Juanita Boyd has been painting professionally for over 35 years. Her career started in creative photographic painting, winning many state and national awards. She was also awarded "Artist of the Year" in 1973 and placed in "Who's Who in American Women" by the Professional Photographic Artists of Indiana.
Juanita was chosen to teach on a national teaching team for Susan Scheewe Publications in cooperation with Grumbacher Inc. of New York City. Jaunita was rated a superb instructor as a staff teacher, showing concern and consideration for her students. She taught thousands of beginning, intermediate, and advanced students in hospitals, schools, art shops, and seminars. One month each year for ten years, Juanita studied in Portland, Oregon, with well-known accomplished artists.
Juanita and her husband, Garland, were co-owners of Garland's Art Galleries, Covington Plaza, Ft. Wayne, Indiana, for approximately 15 years. The gallery provided her with classroom space to centralize her teaching expertise in the Fort Wayne area for many of those years.
A few years ago, Juanita was invited to teach art classes aboard the Golden Odyssey Alaskan cruise ship; this created a new and exciting teaching opportunity.
At present, Juanita is semi-retired, residing in Ossian, Indiana. However, teaching has always been her first love, bringing the joy of painting to many students.
This is Juanita's first year on the touring circuit.
