Our graduates are serving in nearly every vocational context. Whether it be as Christian doctors, lawyers, educators, scientists, politicians, or numerous other fields, we understand that our students are diverse in their callings, yet united in purpose.
Please take the opportunity to get to know us through this website or an on-campus visit. You will discover a community of servant leaders whose heart is to teach and care for others while also producing research in a myriad of academic disciplines. History of DBU
DBU's forerunner, Decatur Baptist College, was founded in 1898 as the first junior college in Texas. For years, the school called the small town of Decatur home, producing outstanding young men and women who filled churches, classrooms, hospitals, and businesses around the nation.
In 1965, the school relocated to the scenic foothills of southwest Dallas, becoming a four-year institution and eventually being renamed Dallas Baptist University when it began offering graduate-level degrees.
Today, DBU has a variety of degrees on the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels. Well into our second century, DBU continues to press forward in our mission to produce servant leaders who will transform the world.

Mission Statement
The mission of Dallas Baptist University is to provide Christ-centered quality higher education in the arts, sciences, and professional studies at both the undergraduate and graduate levels to traditional age and adult students in order to produce servant leaders who have the ability to integrate faith and learning through their respective callings.
Commentary on the Mission Statement of DBU (2002, April) by the late Dr. David Naugle, noted author, lecturer, and former chair and professor of philosophy at DBU.
Vision Statement
Building a great Christian university that is pleasing to God by producing Christ-centered servant leaders who are transforming the world.
Core Values
DBU's five core values are the foundation for living out the mission and vision of a Christian university.
Christ-Centered
We believe all truth is God's truth and an informed mind can only be fully developed in light of the Gospel.
Genuine Community
We believe God designed us for community, so DBU fosters a unique community where we support and challenge one another academically, spiritually, and relationally.
Marked by Service
We believe God calls us to serve Him and one another. Therefore, DBU strives to develop leaders with a heart for service.
Transformative Education
We believe a Christ-centered education should be transformative. Through the integration of faith and learning, DBU provides an education that transforms both the mind and spirit.
Global Impact
We believe God has called us to have a heart for the world, which is shown not only in our love for international students but also in our focus on serving and transforming the world, all for the glory of God.
